Chapter 15: A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words – Part 2

Theme Song: “Kodachrome,” Paul Simon

We broke ground on Bocas del Toro Luxury Water Villas and Treehouse Suites on our private island in Bocas Del Toro, Panama on January 15, 2019. Ten months into the project, we published the first images of our progress in a blog post entitled A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words. Now, a year later, and six months into the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown we are proud to present version 2. No need for words – just short captions below our not-so-professional random photos. We promise professional photos in version 3 once the first phase of the project is completed.

Congrats guys!! So excited for you and it looks as amazing as I imagined it would be. Sigh- wish I was there now. Is ElevAir new? I never heard of them but it certainly beats Air Panama from PC to Bocas!!! I’m in!

      Hi Karen,

Thank you for your kind words. It is exciting to see everything come together at Bocas del Toro.

ElevAir is new and will begin operations around the first of the year https://www.flyelevair.com/. We also plan to offer day excursions through them. The picture you see in my blog is their home page – it is from a destination that is very close to Bocas del Toro by seaplane.

We look forward to seeing you all in Panama! Watching the development of Bocas del Toro has been a fun journey. I’m sure more so from this end than yours. We are glad you took the plunge and are ready to go in Panama. See you soon!

    • Dan Behm says:

      Hello Jacque,

We are looking forward to you visiting us at Bocas del Toro. Thank you for following along with us on this journey.

There have been high highs and low lows along the way, but we are one of the highest highs right now as we prepare to open one month from today. I am thankful for those that have followed our blog and am also thankful for the incredible international Bocas del Toro team who has stuck with it through all of the challenges. They have truly built a special place.

I will continue to write blog posts throughout our first year. We would be honored if you would continue to follow along.

      Sincerely,

      Dan

We are so excited to stay at your amazing place. El Castillo has and is our home away from home and we cannot wait to make Bocas del Toro our next one. Congratulations!!!

    • Dan Behm says:

      Hi Pia,

Thank you for your loyalty and love of El Castillo. We look forward to welcoming you to Bocas del Toro?.

You are probably aware that Scott, David, and Gerson, our core staff at El Castillo, have all moved to Panama and are living on Frangipani Island.

Scott and his team will be building the same culture of “casual elegance” that we worked so hard to achieve at El Castillo. Bocas del Toro, too, will be a magical place where everyone is welcome and made to feel at home.

Thank you for following our blog.

      Dan

Dude! So proud of you and your amazing team. My family has no idea what’s in store for them!! Love what you’ve done here…I know you’re going to affirm the terrific individuals who have made this happen–you should! But I’m grateful to be caught up in the wave that is Dan Behm. Love you man!

    • Dan Behm says:

      Hey Brent,

Thank you for following our blog and your kind words.

We are so excited to have you and your family visit Bocas del Toro! I appreciate all of your voucher purchases; especially because of the trust it shows.

When you choose a date I would be happy to get together with you and your family in person to assist with planning and to answer any questions you may have.

I am honored to have you as a friend for the past twenty plus years. I miss our weekly racquetball and especially our discussions as we walked around the track after every match. Hopefully we can start back up again soon.

      Your Friend,

      Dan

  6. Yo Dan! The place is looking great! Amazing the progress that’s been made since I visited in December of 2019. No surprise though — you get things done, and done well!

    • Dan Behm says:

      Hey Brant,

It is awesome to hear from you! Are you traveling or back in Virginia?

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. The Bocas del Toro Team is knocking it out of the park. It is exciting to see everything coming together. I am actually in Grand Rapids as the team is working around the clock in Panama to welcome our first guests only three weeks away. The transformation each day is amazing!

I can’t wait to have you see the finished resort someday. Hopefully, we can do that together.

      Dan
